IMPORT VESSEL/TANKER


In the Handling of an Import Vessel, three Inspectors are assigned; one has responsibility for drawing samples of products for test at our shore laboratory. In the event of two or more different products of the same grade, samples are drawn from individual tanks and a volumetric composite analysis is carried out at our shore laboratory.


SHIP-TO-SHIP OPERATION (STS)


Two Inspectors are engaged in this operation, one on the mother tanker and the other on the receiving vessel (known as the daughter vessel) on completion of all necessary inspection, a discharge plan is agreed upon by both the chief-mate and the attending
surveyors.


BUNKER TRANSFER AT ANCHORAGE

The inspector is to know the nominated quantity of the bunker. Ullage is also taken on the tanks prior to the commencement of the operation and the bunker tank ascertained to the quantity of the cargo before and after operation.


REFINERY LOADING/DISCHARGING OPERATION

Prior to the loading of any vessel, nominated quantity must be established and duration of the discharge to the vessel verified. The nominated shore tanks to be used are checked and sampled for quantity and quality certification.
